Warby Parker

Last week I came home to this fun little box on my doorstep:

After lots of hype and talk about the kind of business that Warby Parker is doing, I decided to check out Warby Parker's Home Try-on program.

Warby Parker is a cutting edge eyeglass shop that is based mostly online. Their glasses start at $95 including prescription lenses and for every pair bought, a pair is distributed to someone in need. The company is in its 4th year of providing stylish frames at a low price, all while giving back.

Curiosity finally struck so I went to their website, chose 5 frames, and they sent them to me for free to try on and send back! Even though these are just testers, it was so exciting to get a cute package with all of these fun frames!

My trusty sidekick and I headed straight inside to get this package opened.

Inside were instructions and a packing label for sending the frames back after 5 days (shipping is paid for by Warby Parker).

Oh, I am, Warby Parker, I am.

Inside were my picks! From left to right:

(not to be confused with potential names of The Bachelor cast members)

Before even trying these on, I thought that the Flannery and the Tenley would easily be the front runners in this race. Read on to find out the results....

By the way, this provided the excellent opportunity for shameless selfies. You've been warned!

First up is the Quimby:

These were my wild card. I chose them for those silly days where you just want to wear some green glasses. I actually kind of liked them, but they were definitely not an every-day wear.

Second: Flannery

I love a good aviator and these weren't bad at all. I really liked the tint and the size of the shades themselves, but I have some really good polarized aviators from Fossil that I think I'll keep wearing! No offense, Warby!

Then there was Ellison...

I had high hopes for Ellison. They seemed cool and retro with the half wire/half tortoise shell type frame. I really like the Ray-ban version of these so I thought these would be good too. Unfortunately, they made my face look all kinds of weird.

Case in point. Denied.

Fourth was Tenley:

I really like the subtle cat eye going on with these glasses and usually they favor my face, but these were super awkward! I liked them when I put them on, but when I smiled my cheeks hit the bottom of the frame and pushed the shade up on my face. It was like they were too big, but also too small...?

I tried really hard to make it work, Tenley...it's not you, it's me. (not really)

Last up was Reilly. I put Reilly on and it just CLICKED. These were the ones! I love the size, the pattern, the tint, and the fit. They were perfect!

Plus, they made me make this face:

I'm sold.

So, which are your favorite? Do you see the same things I see? If you are in the market for glasses, go right now to www.warbyparker.com and check out the home try-on program! They do prescription and non-prescription glasses and have some super cute frames. The home try-on program is fail proof! You won't be disappointed.

Summer is coming quickly people, so go to Warby Parker and tell me which frame you love!!!

I was not compensated for this post by Warby Parker.

One more thing! I'm linking up with my SIL Andrea today for Favorite things!

Thanks to the weather this weekend, my mind is fully set on summer. I LOVE Summer and this warm weather in Texas has me counting the hours to longer days and warmer nights. Here are my picks:

I have been buying these tank tops from Target for YEARS. I like wearing tanks under almost everything because I have a long torso and I'm tall, so nothing ever feels long enough. These tanks are super long, come in a bunch of colors, and keep their shape for a long time!!! I have a million and I rotate them out, but they usually last me about 2-3 years. I typically pick a few up whenever I catch them on sale, which seems like once a month. At $9 or less, you can't beat the perfect tank!

My aunt and uncle passed this Trader Joe's honey mango moisturizing cream shave around as the girls favor at our Christmas gathering. Let me just say that Mark and I have been fighting over it. It is so creamy without being oily and makes your skin feel so fresh! Plus, how great is Trader Joe's?! If you don't have them in your area, you can buy a three pack on Amazon for $10.

Thanks for reading!

Five on Friday, 2014 vol. 4

We've made it to Friday again! Linking up with April and the rest of the ladies here. Here we go!

 -one-
Happy Valentine's day, people!

If you're single, don't sweat it because even married couples don't really celebrate it. Mark is getting a card and we are going to lunch on Sunday in celebration (but really who needs an excuse??) Regardless, happy FRIDAY!

-two-
I am about 60% positive I accidentally threw away my go-to pair of black heels. Whoops.

After I mourned, I bought these the other day at DSW. They are super awesome looking but I'm kind of scared to wear them. When you're already 5'9", you get a little wary of teetering in heels all day! Wish me luck!

-three-
Last night I went to an industry event at Kendra Scott in the west village in Dallas. It was so much fun!

20% of the proceeds went to a program called Dwell with Dignity, which is a charity that my company worked hard on last year. While I didn't quite have the budget for them last night, I'm loving these beauties:

Maybe next time. ;)

-four-
I have a fun post coming next week where I'll show you my five favorite frames from Warby Parker.

You can do it too! Just go to their website and select the "home try on" program. Pick your frames and they will ship them to you-for free! Be sure to check back on Tuesday for the scoop and tell me which frames I should pick!

-five-
It's ladies weekend in Dallas! Heather, Britt, and Stacy are joining the local ladies for what is sure to be a fun filled weekend. I'll recap next week!

Happy weekend!

Five on Friday 2014, Vol. 3

I've said before that I'm not really a birthday person, but I am an event person and a picture person! My birthday is this Sunday so I wanted to take a trip down memory lane and share some photos of past birthdays for this special five on Friday.

(linking up with April today!)
-one-

My 21st Birthday. Jessica, Jimmy, and Brent all made the trip up to Lubbock to visit and we celebrated my 21st in style!

-two-

Jody, Terra, and I took the opportunity to make a road trip to College Station (via Fort Worth) and had a grand time ringing in my 22nd birthday! We came back to Lubbock and had dinner with friends to continue the festivities.

-three-

Mark surprised me with tickets to a John Mayer concert for my 23rd birthday so we made a trip to Austin, got to catch up with old friends from my internship days, and had a fun time at the concert!

-four-

I'm not sure what we did for my 24th, but I have photos of my 25th so I'm going with it! I took the day after my birthday off and we went on an area-wide search for THE wedding dress. We got lucky at the first place and I bought my dress the day after my birthday! That weekend, we went to the Katy Trail Ice House with girlfriends and enjoyed some delish red velvet cake. ;)

-five-

I rang in 26 with a bang. My car was totaled the week before so I bought my very first car on my birthday and celebrated a new job!

I can't wait to see what 27 will bring!

Five on Friday: 2014 vol. 1

Happy Friday y'all!

-one-

I started a new job this week and I'm really liking the fresh new information I'm learning! I switched from residential interior design to commercial interior design to get a change of scenery and some new perspective under my belt. I've always been way more math-minded and I think commercial design is really playing to that strength. I can't wait to see where this  new adventure will take me!

-two-

My friend Emily just made the big blog announcement that she is leaving to live and au pair in London in just a few short weeks. I am SO excited for her and only a teeny bit jealous. You think she will get the chance to check out any of these places?

If she's lucky, maybe she'll cozy up to Prince Harry! ;)

-three-

That same Emily and our friend Heather are paying me a nice little visit this weekend! They both moved to Houston in 2013 and I've missed our girly chats and frequent dinners. We've got to have a blast this weekend to send Emily across the pond with a bang!

(yes, this is the best I could do. Apparently pictures of all three of us are locked away in a vault somewhere.)

-four-

Mark and I are having to replace our vacuum because of the THREE that we have, we can't get a clean floor. I found a Dyson (not sure of the model) on sale at Target the other day and it was about $100 off, but still about $275. I was just looking at it and a woman passing by asked me if I ever had one before. I said no, and she told me they aren't worth it! I've heard really good things about Dyson and I was surprised to hear the opposite from her. Does anyone have a Dyson they LOVE, or one they were disappointed with? We won't necessarily be shopping for one now, but to know for the future is helpful!

-five-

Everyone is posting super cute planners this week on Instagram. I LOVE the idea, but I can't imagine carrying a bulky planner (one wouldn't fit in the purse I'm carrying now) or even keeping myself up to date with one. I typically remember everything or I use my Outlook calendar at work or my calendar on my phone. What do you think? Do you use a paper planner, and how does that work for you?

Here are some cute ones:

...and as always, I'm linking up with April for Five on Friday!

Have a lovely weekend! :)
